A covenant promise and a people
With the generous God at the centre
Who desired to give His abundance
A land for a large nation to enter
Canaan was reserved for the Israelites
It was land flowing with milk and honey
A harvest to last generations
Of former slaves with divine destiny
But Canaan was just a present symbol
A picture of something greater beyond
It pointed to eternal life with God
That the true gift was a heavenly bond
Jesus fulfilled this covenant promise
Giving the gifts of salvation and life
In the fullest and most bountiful sense
With God's fellowship, we will surely thrive
The heart of Christ the best present capped
Sublime, endless, too awesome to be wrapped
Is yours if you trust in Jesus who is
A gentle guide to the Father's riches
