Dear Jesus,
You are the giver of good gifts. You do not withhold any blessing that the Father gives You. You extend eternal life, reconciliation, a heavenly home, and a place in the Lord's presence to me. You are in these wonderful gifts. In other words, Lord, You do not only give things, but You give Yourself.
Thank you, Jesus, for Your generosity. I am grateful for Your big heart. I am thankful that You shed grace upon me. What amazing grace! It fills my lap and runs like a river's stream. Thank You for saving a sinner like me. Thank You for giving Yourself as the payment for my sin. Thank You for giving me an intimate relationship with You.
I confess that at times, I lose wonder. When I am enticed by the things of this world, like clothing, home decor, and the latest gadgets, I forget the imperishable treasure that You have bestowed upon me. Life in You and eternity become dull in my eyes. And I confess there are other times, Jesus, when I see You as Santa or a genie in a bottle. I bring to You a list of wants and desires. I measure Your goodness by what I possess.
Lord, help me to see that Your goodness stands alone. The riches of salvation far surpass what I have or do not have in this life. Your presence, which is always and forever with me, is the sweetest gift. Sweet Saviour, help me to embrace the abundance of Your generosity. And give me a heart like Yours, a heart that sheds lavish grace on others.
In Your name, amen.
