He is risen

Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified is risen from the dead! 1 The Lord has really risen! 2

God raised him to life on the third day. Then God allowed him to appear, not to the general public, but to us whom God had chosen in advance to be his witnesses those who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. 3

God released him from the horrors of death and raised him back to life, for death could not keep him in its grip. 4 He now lives by the power of God. 5 He will never die again. Death no longer has any power over him. 6

Because God’s children are human being – made of flesh and blood – the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had the power of death. Only in this way could he set free all who have lived their lives as slaves to the fear of dying. 7

He broke the power of death and illuminated the way to life and immortality through the Good News. 8 He is the first of a great harvest of all who have died. So you see, just as death came into the world through a man, now the resurrection from the dead has begun through another man. Just as everyone dies because we all belong to Adam, everyone who belongs to Christ will be given new life. But there is an order to this resurrection: Christ was raised as the of the harvest; then all who belong to Christ will be raised when he comes back. 9

Sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. 10
