Don’t Sweat It

 Don’t Sweat It

Linen turbans shall be on their heads and linen undergarments shall be on their loins; they shall not gird themselves with anything which makes them sweat.

EZEKIEL 44.18

This particular verse in Ezekiel teaches a valuable lesson that still applies to our lives today. The priests were to wear linen because the fabric was light and didn’t cause them to sweat.

The pattern there sets the course for every servant of God throughout history. Our Father’s plan is that, metaphorically speaking, we should never sweat. Do we serve Him? Yes, of course, but we don’t work out of our own ability. Our efforts are an expression of His life operating in and through us.

Legalism commends endless service, even to the point of exhaustion. In the grace walk, we aren’t passive, but because we don’t depend on ourselves as the energy source for service, we are able to serve endlessly and tirelessly.

If your spiritual service causes you to feel fatigued, perhaps your actions aren’t coming from the proper source. As we serve God in the power of the Spirit, much is accomplished. But our strength is renewed, not depleted.
