Obey the LORD’s commandments

What does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, so walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments and statutes of the LORD? 1

Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to listen than the fat of rams. 2

And his commandments are not burdensome. 3 This commandment is not too hard for you, neither is it far off. But the word is very near you. It is in your mouth and in your heart, so that you can do it. 4

This is love, that we walk according to his commandments. 5

You shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left. You shall walk in all the way that the LORD your God has commanded you, that you may live, and that it may go well with you, and that you may live long in the land that you shall possess. 6 Whoever does the will of God abides forever. 7

Whoever keeps his commandments abides in God, and God in him. 8

Fear the LORD and serve him faithfully with all your heart. For consider what great things he has done for you. 9

The steadfast love of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to children’s children, to those who keep his covenant and remember to do his commandments. 10
