God created the heavens

Look up into the heavens. Who created all the stars? He brings them out like an army, one after another, calling each by its name.

Because of his great power and incomparable strength, not a single one is missing. 1

For God is so wise and so mighty. He alone has spread out the heavens. 2

The LORD merely spoke, and the heavens were created. He breathed the word, and all the stars were born. 3

He made all the stars—the Bear and Orion, the Pleiades and the constellations of the southern sky. 4

For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God. 5

The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known. They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard. Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world. God has made a home in the heavens for the sun. 6

Praise him, sun and moon! Praise him, all you twinkling stars! Praise him, skies above! For he issued his command, and they came into being. 7
