The LORD sees

Woe to those who go to great depths to hide their plans from the LORD, who do their work in darkness and think, “Who sees us? Who will know?” You turn things upside down, as if the potter were thought to be like the clay? Shall what is formed say to the one who formed it, “You did not make me”?

Can the pot say to the potter, “You know nothing”? 1

Does he who fashioned the ear not hear? Does he who formed the eye not see? Does he who disciplines nation not punish? Does he who teaches mankind lack knowledge? The LORD knows all human plans. 2

Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid before the eyes of him to whom we must give account. 3 His eyes are on the ways of mortals; he sees their every step. There is no deep shadow, no utter darkness, where evildoers can hide. 4

The LORD searches every heart and understands every desire and every thought. 5 He knows the secrets of the heart. 6 The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart. 7 For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. 8
