Sunglasses

They're really helpful on a super sunny day. They block out the Sun and the harmful UV rays that can affect your eyes. It also helps you see better when you're doing things outside, plus they’re also just fun to wear and they look great. So wearing sunglasses protects your eyes from harmful rays and helps you see better.

You know that makes me think that there are other ways we can protect our eyes because sometimes what we see you can have bad effects on our minds and our hearts. Do any of your parents not let you see age restricted movies, or do they have special programs that block certain things on the internet? It may feel frustrating to you but your parents are trying to protect your eyes from things that will harm your mind.

In Philippians 4:8 it says, “finally brothers whatever is true whatever is noble whatever is right whatever is pure whatever is lovely whatever is admirable. If anything is excellent or praiseworthy, think about such things.” Doesn't that sound great? I mean who wouldn't want to think of those things? But the world often turns away from all the things that are good and pure. The reason why Paul, he's the guy that wrote Philippians, asked us to think about things that are right and lovely and admirable, is because if we think that way, we become that way. If you want to be excellent and praiseworthy, you have to avoid the things that will harm your mind and heart. You can do this by protecting your eyes from things you shouldn't see.

So use wisdom, kind of like you would use these sunglasses to protect your eyes if you're not sure about a movie you want to watch or a book you want to read, think about Philippians 4:8 ask if it's lovely, right and admirable. Just like you wouldn't go outside on a sunny day without sunglasses, don't go outside without wisdom to protect your mind and heart.
