Overcoming the world

Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world. 1

The whole world is under the control of the evil one, 2 the accuser of our brothers and sisters. 3

The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work. 4 And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. 5 The Prince of this world now stands condemned. 6

Jesus Christ gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age. 7 Everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. 8

If God is for us, who can be against us? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died, more than that, who was raised to life, is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 9

Thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 10 Jesus said, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” 11
