The Gospel

I want to clarify for you the gospel I proclaimed to you; you received it and have taken your stand on it. You are also saved by it, if you hold to the message I proclaimed to you that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures. 1

The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but it is God’s power to us who are being saved. 2

It is bearing fruit and growing all over the world, just as it has among you since the day you heard it and recognised God’s grace in the truth, 3 the good news that Jesus is the Messiah, 4 the good news of the kingdom of God. 5

Once you were alienated and hostile in your minds because of your evil actions. But now Christ has reconciled you by His physical body through His death, to present you holy, faultless, and blameless before Him – if indeed you remain grounded and steadfast in the faith and are not shifted away from the hope of the gospel that you heard. 6

What will the outcome be for those who disobey the gospel of God? 7 These will pay the penalty of eternal destruction from the Lord’s presence and from His glorious strength. 8

Don’t be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord. Instead, share in suffering for the gospel, relying on the power of God. 9

Live your life in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, standing firm in one spirit, with one mind, working side by side for the faith that comes from the gospel. 10
