How do some people know so much about God?

I no longer call you servants, because a master doesn’t confide in his servants. Now you are my friends.

John 15.15

Suppose you want to know all there is to know about the Goliath bird-eating spider (Theraphosa blondi), the world’s largest spider. You would fly to the jungles of South America for a firsthand look at these hairy 11 to 12inch monsters. You would study how they eat, and how they swallow. You might bring a baby spider home to your lab.

Well, if you want to know all about God, you need to try just as hard to see what you can learn. You read the Bible. You talk to God day but day about your struggles. You say thanks for God’s gifts, obey him even when it’s hard, and trust him to care for you always. You learn everything you can about God’s Son, because he is just like his Father in heaven. There’s no doubt about it, soon you will know God very well. And his Son, Jesus, will not only be your Saviour and your Master but your best friend.

What are you doing each day to learn more about God? (Dare I say reading this counts). What might get in your way so you don’t have time to learn to know God better? Choose one or two things you, or your family together, can do to learn more about God.
