Is God ever too busy to listen to my prayers?

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about what happens to you.

1Peter 5.7

Sometimes the adults in your life are busy. You might hear a teacher or parent say, “Wait your turn.” “Not now!” “After dinner.” “Maybe this weekend.” All of us know what it’s like to have people tell us they are too busy to answer a question or to help us. Even grownups often hear from other grownups that they are too busy to talk or help.

But that’s not how it is with God. Just as there is no end to how much God knows, there is no end to how much he cares and wants to help you. God is with you all the time. He doesn’t take naps or watch TV or surf the internet. He never feels tired from running the universe. He is so tuned in to you that he knows your every thought before you think it. He’s listening even before you speak. So go ahead and pray. Tell God whatever you’d like to say. Whenever you want to talk, he’s ready.

So recognise that God is available to us 24/7. You can do this by practicing “popcorn” prayers. As needs and concerns and points for praise arise, take time for brief prayers there and then. You don’t have to wait til dinner, devotional time or bed to talk to God about it. You can pray right now.
